Zambo takes center stage in WOW tonight

Zamboanga, Asia?s Latin City, takes center stage tonight in the country?s annual tourism campaign and advocacy program dubbed as WOW Philippines at Intramuros, Manila with Spanish Ambassador Luis Arias Romero as guest of honor and keynote speaker.
Mayor Celso Lobregat is leading a delegation from the city for the Zamboanga Nights slated for Friday and Saturday. The delegation is composed of the city councilors, department heads, members of the Zamboanga Culture and Arts Council and representatives from other sectors. The two-night affair will feature songs, dances and fashion (produccion de Musica, Bailes Y Moda) of Zamboanga City to entertain visitors and guests that will include national and foreign dignitaries.A booth is also being set up at Intramuros. It showcases Zamboanga?s agri-fishery products and novelty items, among others, on sale by local exhibitors and business groups.Tonight?s opening for Zamboanga Night will start with a cocktail at 7:00 p.m to be followed by ?ceremonias protocolares? then the welcome remarks of Mayor Lobregat. Also to give their messages are Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano and Senator Richard Gordon.To enliven the evening?s affair is the cultural presentation under the auspices of the City Tourism Office led by Sarita Hernandez and staff in coordination with Jambangan Dance Troupe.The list of dignitaries who confirmed attendance as of yesterday were the Spanish ambassador, Belgian Ambassador Robert Desjardins, European Union Ambassador Alistair Bell McDonald and lady, Thailand Ambassador Kulkumut Ayudhaya, Malaysian Ambassador Dato? Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi, Libyan Charge d?Affairs Sadek A.S. Oman, Italian Ambassador Rubens Fedele, representatives from the embassies of Saudi Arabia, China, South Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam including from Malaysia Cultural Office.Also attending are Gen. Victor Ibrado and lady from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Mrs. Rhodora Nograles, president of the Congressional Ladies Club, Mrs. Ellen Asili, wife of Rep. Benjamin Asilo (1st District Manila), Dr. Joy Dumpit, wife of Rep. Thomas Dumpit (2nd District La Union) and Commissioner Ruth Padilla, wife of Rep. Carlos Padilla (Lone District, Nueva Vizcaya). ?
