15 Aug
On August 10-12, 2009, the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) conducted a 3-day planning workshop. The main objective of the activity was to formulate the office strategic plan. The plan will define the future thrusts and priorities of the water district, which is anchored on a well thought vision, mission, strategic goals for 7 years and operational goals for 3 years. It also contains the corporate values.
This initiative spells how competitive the water utility is in the near future and specifies interfacing activities between and among its two major operating units to improve delivery of quality services to all its consumers. There were several workshops, which highly involved the participation of all supervisors, officers in-charge, managers and the five members of the Board of Directors. The workshop is the first major planning initiative of the ZCWD under the leadership of General Manager Leonardo Rey D. Vasquez and the Board of Directors represented by its chairman, Mr. Edwin N. Makasiar. It is hoped that the strategic plan will be the legacy of the current administration to the registered customers of Zamboanga City.To ensure quality output of the workshop, Dr. Elizabeth Yumul-Manugue from Manila facilitated the planning workshop. Dr. Manugue is a well-experienced resource person and has vast experiences on knowledge management, strategic planning, organizational and human resource development.A one-day follow-up workshop will be undertaken on the last week of August to cascade the strategic plan into operational plan. The 3-year operational plan will be the basis for the annual work and financial plan of all the operating units of ZCWD.
