Fabian-Villar basketball showdown reels off at St. Joseph School gym

The “Congressman Erbie Fabian-Senator Manuel Villar Basketball Showdown” reeled off yesterday at the St. Joseph School’s gynasium along Governor Camins, this city, with 29 Zamboangueño players.

The basketball participants are playing in the different secondary, college and universities in Manila and Cebu.In an interview at the St. Joseph School gymnasium with a jam packed crowd from the different schools in the city, Fabian told Zamboanga Today the basketball competition will end on December 28.Fabian identified the schools that are participating in the one-week competition as follows: Universidad de Zamboanga, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Immaculate Conception Archdiocesan School, Southern City Colleges, varsity players, Zamboangueño players in the National Capitol Athletic Association and University Athletic Association of the Philippines.Earlier, before declaring the games open, Fabian expressed elation that the Manila and Cebu-based players have all accepted his invitation to come to Zamboanga City and join the showdown.“This is a friendly competition I hope everybody will give out their best. I would like also to greet all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous year ahead,” Fabian said.Meanwhile, Eng. Allan Castor, tournament director named the Zamboangueño players based in Manila and Cebu schools as Totoh Bandaying UE, Rudy Lingganay UE, RR Garcia FEU, Hynes Knuttel FEU, Jonathan Belorio Letran College, Moy Edding TIP, Arjay Argamino St. Benilde, Crisper Elopre UPHR, Robin Rono UPHR, Gao Lanete San Beda, Bon Bon Lanete University of Visayas, Tano University of Cebu, Frederick Malabago Letran and Eddih Jikiri NU who are all playing for the Erbie Fabian White team.These are also the players bonded together for the Erbie Fabian Orange Team: Al Amin San Beda, Lloyd Castor San Sebastian, Jino Jumao-as San Sebastian, Michael Tolomia FEU, Anton Pardo FEU, Ped Ped Pardo FEU, AA Fabian, FEU, Marc Gelig FEU, Aytona UST, Ledesma UST, Tisoy Ignacio NU, Stephen Que UST, Frederick Lim FEU and Marc Barruca who is playing for Smart Gilas.Also present in the tournament were Jojo Custodio tournament consultant, Dr. Edgar Rosales assistant tournament director and Bong Casimiro Fabian’s Sports coordinator.
